“Architect Thomas has the skills, the knowledge, the experience and the attitude of a highly qualified and trusted professional within our community.”

Meet Architect Thomas

Architect Thomas – Thomas Denhardt ANZIA – pursued his career in architecture back in 2008 at the University of Auckland, after relocating to the North Island from Dunedin, where he completed his secondary studies at Otago Boys’ High School. Upon graduation of the Master of Architecture Professional degree with honours, he put theory into practice and built his professional career in Auckland City through local selective practices. Today, he holds the sought after title of Senior Architect at WSP NZ and is a station lead for Northern Flemingdon Station in the state of Ontario, Canada.

His tenure within the industry has rewarded him with a strong and diverse portfolio of work, with the appointment to on-site Senior Architect on the high-profile City Rail Link being the most significant of them all. This experience amongst other responsibilities throughout his professional career have given him the passion and drive to create what is now The Thinking Room.

In addition to his credentials, Architect Thomas has also been a regular contributor to architectureNZ – New Zealand’s national architecture magazine – where he has provided several articles based on issues relevant to architects and the broader local design community. He is also an affiliated member with a number of industry associations, such as New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA), New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI) and the Property Council of New Zealand (PCNZ).

Interestingly, he is well-travelled and enjoys giving back to the local architecture community through mentorship of underlings.

“Professionally, Architect Thomas is proactive, ambitious, analytical and results orientated. Personally, he is an outgoing, active family man who enjoys the great outdoors and robust conversations with good company over a BBQ and a glass or two of his favourite tickle.”
